House of Marley audio brand launches, gets Manila jammin’

With his positive vibrations and great effort in music, Bob Marley has been and always will be an inspiration to many people. That’s why his son, Rohan Marley, created an audio brand – The House of Marley – to continue what his father started, further promoting the messages of love, hope, unity and peace through a diverse range of audio equipment.

ONE LOVE, ONE MANILA. Last night at Prive Luxury Club, the House of Marley brand launched in Manila and unveiled their unique and earth-friendly headphones, portable speakers and lifestyle gear. Music junkies will definitely love their products, not only for the awesome sound quality they leak out, but also for the reasonable tag prices as well. And since Bob Marley is all about love, part of the profits this brand makes will be donated to the epicenter of global movement, 1Love.org.

The MARLEY Jammin’ Collection, that boasts of vibrant styles and are capable of giving excellent performances, consist of a myriad of headphones – People Get Ready, Smile Jamaica, and Positive Vibrations. And because the House of Marley brand is staying true to its lifestyle roots, they will also introduce watches, bags and other accessories later in the year.

I did mention these headphones are affordable. The Smile Jamaica in-ear headphones sell for Php 1,399, while the People Get Ready earbuds are Php 1,899. The Positive Vibration Headphones are priced at Php 2,799.

House of Marley products can be found in S&R Membership Shopping, Ansons Appliances, Reuse, Powerbooks, selected National Bookstores and Puregold Duty Free. The new collection will also be sold at electronics and audio stores, surf shops, department stores and retailers nationwide.

The BlackBerry Messenger Craze

Last night, BlackBerry Philippines reintroduced the BlackBerry Messenger to the media. BlackBerry Messenger, more famously dubbed as BBM, is one of the most powerful tool pegged into BlackBerry smartphones.

BlackBerry Messenger gives you the power to keep in touch with friends and family – better, faster and easier. Each BlackBerry has a unique PIN, which is used to add other BlackBerry users onto your BBM contact list. With the BBM chat, you can use unlimited characters in your messages, and exchange pictures, files and voice notes with your BBM contacts.

And with the new BlackBerry Messenger 6.1, there are more ways to personalize your chat experience. The new version of BBM includes animated avatars, new emoticons, customized color chat bubbles and display picture integration. Some apps available on BlackBerry App World can also be connected to BBM such as Foursquare, Wikitude, WeatherTrax, DriveSafely, Photo Studio, and Caro.

People who are switching to BlackBerry are increasing more and more each day. Owning a BlackBerry phone has become popular among the youth because of the ability to reach out to your friends using BBM. It’s interactively fun. I’ve been a long-time user of BlackBerry Messenger, and I am addicted to it. BBM helps me keep up with my family abroad. It’s faster, easier and CHEAPER to communicate. Globe Telecom is actually offering a promo until March 2012 that lets you enjoy unlimited BBM with Globe BlackBerry Chat for just Php99/month.

Download digital music from MyMusicStore, the newest online music portal

Piracy has been one of the biggest problems of the music industry in our country. Most people get their music from illegal download sites and local artists have been struggling to counter these pirates. Hopefully, that’s all about to change.

MyMusicStore is an online portal where you can legally buy both local and international music with just a few clicks. It’s sorta like our own version of the iTunes Store.

It’s managed by MobileCash Inc. and Rising Tide Mobile Entertainment Inc., and supported by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI). This music store simplifies user experience and offers different convenient ways for music lovers to pay for their music. They can pay through credit card or PayPal. But thanks to Smart, you can also pay with your cellphone load. Yes, you read it right.

Currently in Beta, MyMusicStore has about 15-17 thousand artists in their inventory. Aside from whole albums, music fans can also buy singles at only P20 to P35 per song. The site currently has approximately 160,000 songs for download and promises to widen its range of music in the coming months.

Executives say there is a possibility of bringing this store to a mobile platform, Android and iOS, but nothing is sure yet. MyMusicStore is supported by local major labels like Star Records, Sony Music, Universal Records, PolyEast Records, MCA Music Inc. and EMI, among others.

Check out MyMusicStore at www.mymusicstore.com.ph.

Turn your Facebook Timeline profile into business cards!

YES. IT CAN BE DONE. Thanks to social media giant Facebook and Moo, a popular business card maker. The collaboration went official last January 5 as they launched the new and beautiful, Facebook-infused business cards.

With this partnership and the unique scrapbooking of Facebook Timeline, you can now share a small piece of your profiles with the people you interact with offline.

Each card will show your cover photo, profile picture, name, company or school, where you live as well as your Facebook URL, phone number and e-mail address. On the back of the card, there’s a space for you to add your own bullshit quotes or a short description about yourself. You can customize all the details.

And here’s the fun part. Facebook and Moo are doling out 200,000 free sets of cards. You read it right, F-R-E-E!

According to Moo, they’ll be giving away 50,000 packs completely free and another 150,000 where all you have to pay is postage. The daily counter resets around lunch time in the UK and there are 5,000 packs available each day.

To make your own Facebook cards, first make sure you’re already using the Timeline feature. Go to your profile page, click ‘About’, hover over the little business card icon in your Contact Info, and click ‘Print Cards’. In case you’re dumb at comprehending, check this tutorial video:

Last I checked (earlier today), free cards are still available. So quit the dilly-dally and get on this shit now!

Here are some of the designs I ordered. Moo says my order will arrive in a month. Can’t fuckin’ wait!

Create your own karaoke videos with Nescafé’s YOUMEOKE

Being in a band is an ultimate dream of mine. And if you know me well, you know I’m a sucker for videoke. Yes, I admit – I am a mic clencher.

But have you ever wondered what it would be like to make your own videoke video? That sounded a bit weird.. videoke video. Well anyway, thanks to Nescafe, there’s an easy way for you to do just that.

Introducing YOUMEOKE. You-me-what? YOUMEOKE. It means “a videoke of you and me.” Kinda tacky, I know. Shoot the dude who came up with the name. YOUMEOKE is a Facebook app that allows you to create a slideshow of your Facebook photos – videoke style. It weaves your photos in fluid transitions, animates them against a musical track of your choice, with lyrics sprawled on the screen for you to shout sing along to.

Since we Filipinos love both videoke and Facebook, Nescafe has found a way to mix these two together with an application that’s fun and easy to use.

How easy? You just select a song from three categories (OPM Classics, Senti Pinoy Hits, Pinoy Bands), choose a maximum of three friends, and the app will do the rest. YOUMEOKE will search your photo bank for pictures where you and your friends are all tagged together, and will automatically use those photos, turn them into a slideshow and play it against the song of your choice.

Sidenote: I have no idea how this app is in any way connected to coffee. Oh well, I’ll just have to ask the Oracle.

Whether you wanna celebrate your birthday, reminisce that heartbreak, or serenade that hot chick you’ve been wanting to bang court, YOUMEOKE makes it possible for you to post the videos on your friends’ walls with its “share” function. A great way to annoy someone, I might add.

You can access YOUMEOKE at apps.facebook.com/youmeoke.

I haven’t tried the app yet, but I will soon. You’ll know I picked you when a video pops up on your wall. When it does, feel free to cuss me out.

For more info about YOUMEOKE, visit facebook.com/Nescafe.PH.
